Resident and natives of Auga-Akoko community in Akoko north-east local government area of Ondo state were in shock and confusion upon being informed that some unidentified gunmen abducted the wife of the traditional ruler, Olukemi Agunloye, with her driver on Sunday, June 24.
Anonymous sources said the Olori and the driver were kidnapped after being ambushed by the criminals somewhere around Auga and Ise Akoko on their way to her home town for a ceremony in Ugbe-Akoko in the same local government area, Vanguard reports.

The victims were forced to get into the vehicle used by the suspects, while the car used by the Olori and the driver were abandoned along the road.
Oba Samuel Agunloye, the traditional ruler, confirming the development, said he was informed by some of his subjects that they saw his vehicle abandoned by the road side.
The king said all efforts to reach his wife and the driver by telephone have proven futile so far. He stated that nobody has contacted him for ransom, adding that the rate of kidnap in the state is increasing.
Also confirming the ugly incident, the police area commander in-charge of Akokoland said the command had deployed an intelligence team to the forest along Auga/Ise/Ugbe Akoko to safely recover the victims.
Rafiu Eniayewu, the council caretaker chairman, said that the kidnap of the Olori and the driver was a cause for worry. Moreover, residents in the area were baffled that despite the many military checkpoints and recent location of the police area command the town, crime rates have not reduced, with more than 12 different kidnap cases recorded in the area in 2018.
Femi Joseph, the state police image-maker, said no arrest has been made. Joseph said: “Our concern now is to rescue the Olori and the driver from the den of the kidnappers."

In his optimism that the victims will be rescued and the suspects arrested, Joseph said: “l want to assure the traditional ruler and the people of Auga that we will soon rescue those abducted and get the perpetrators."
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that some armed bandits on Sunday, May 20, hit Kaduna state again and kidnapped at least three women in Maganda village, Birnin Gwari local government area.
NAIJ.com gathered that the kidnapped women were wives of one Adamu Nakwana, a popular businessman in Birnin Gwari.
The women were abducted in the early hours of the day, around 1.30am, when the unknown gunmen stormed Madanga village and headed straight to Nakwana’s house.
