The federal government has intensified measures to ensure adequate security amid fear of possible attacks from the dreaded Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
According to Premium Times, FG has begun strict passenger screening and other tougher security measures for all commercial flights.

The memo said: “Although Africa appears not to be on ISIS immediate focus, the return to Africa of former ISIS fighters from Iraq and Syria, as well as the existence of ISIS-linked groups, such as the technically-suave Abu Musab Al-Barnawi-led Boko Haram faction, calls for increased vigilance in the aviation sector to counter possible new strategies in the ISIS terror campaign."
In its response to the alert by the OSGF, the NCS directed all its commands and federal operating units to “intensify the screening process of all passengers and luggage.”
The Nigerian Customs Service also called for necessary measures “to forestall any potential security breach.
Although it could not be ascertained whether other agencies copied in the memo have scaled up its screening process, the OSGF did not recommend any specific measures that should be taken to neutralise the threat.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a UK Newspaper, The Sun, claimed that ISIS is sneaking terrorists to Nigeria from Syria to train terrorists for possible attacks in Britain.
The report claimed Boko Haram insurgents were also being sent to the Middle East for training in a chilling “exchange programme”.
According to the newspapers, there were fears that strong links between Nigeria and the UK would make it easier for ISIS to send its killers to Britain to orchestrate terror attacks, death and destruction.
