- His deal might be sealed next week as the Reds plots to land their first summer signing

Champions League finalists Liverpool are reportedly close to landing Lyon forward Nabil Fekir according to Daily Star.

The Premier League side sold their attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona earlier this year and they are yet to replace him.

However, the Reds will have to cough out £60 million to sign in a deal which could be sealed next week as reported by The Sun newspaper and quoted by Daily Star.

Reports coming out of Anfield claim that the Reds chiefs are planning to back their manager Jurgen Klopp when the transfer window opens after reaching the Champions League final.

Liverpool have already reached an agreement to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita in a £52.75 million deal, and they are hoping to add the Frenchman to the team ahead of the coming season.

The France international had an impressive season with his Ligue 1 side - scoring 23 goals in 40 appearances in the outgone season.

Meanwhile, he is also wanted by a few other European clubs and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claims his suitors will have to stump up a big fee.

"He has magnificently earned the right to go to Russia with the French national team," Aulas said.

"That gives him a superior status.

"For the moment, nothing has been decided. You'll have to be very rich to recruit Nabil Fekir this year."

Despite claims a deal with Liverpool is imminent, Aulas says he has not been in touch with his Anfield counterparts.

There has been no contact at all with Liverpool, nor with any other club," he said.

"I haven't talked about his future with him at all. Nabil also really wants to stay after qualifying [for the Champions League]. We're going to talk it through calmly."

Fekir was given a standing ovation by fans in Lyon’s final game of the season - a 3-2 win over Nice

He appeared emotional in Lyon’s final game of the season, which sparked speculation over his future.

When asked about his reaction, he said: “Farewell? Frankly, I don’t know.

“I spent an exceptional season here with players, fans and the staff. We ended up in beauty.

“You have to pass a course, it is true. I think I gave everything to Lyon. Now it is time to look into the future.”

Fekir got his senior career started at the Lyon’s second team and he scored 13 goals in 63 appearances, and in 2013, he got an invite to play with the senior boys – and he has scored 45 goals in 115 matches for the club.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Premier League giants, Chelsea will rival Liverpool and Arsenal for the signature of £60 million rated Lyon star Nabil Fekir this summer.

Fekir was thought to have agreed to join Liverpool this summer, but Lyon denied any deal had been finalised last night, and hope to keep their star man.

And Chelsea have now joined the battle to sign the sensational French attacker, along with other clubs across Europe.
