Official: Barcelona legend Iniesta joins big spending club in Japan

- Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta played his last game for Barcelona in their 1-0 against Real Sociedad

- He featured for most past of the game where he was said to have sat in the stadium until 1am after the game

- However, he has now confirmed he is heading to Japanese club side Vissel Kobe

Barcelona superstar Andres Iniesta has left Spain to join his new Japanese Premier League side Vissel Kobe.

The legend ended his reign with his childhood club side Barca at the end of the recently concluded season after spending a whopping 22 seasons at the Camp Nou.

He won a total of 32 major championships with the club since he made his debut at the club in 2002 before finally bidding his childhood club goodbye at the end the 2017-18 season. He made 674 senior appearances, having joined the youth set-up aged 12.

However, he has confirmed that he his move to the Asian league after posting a picture of himself boarding a flight heading that direction on his official twitter handle.

While posting the picture, he accompanied the post with a caption: I’m heading to "new home" with his "friend" Hiroshi Mikitani, owner of his new club.

Mikitani also posted a picture of himself with the Spaniard tweeted a picture of himself boarding a private jet from inside the plane.

Iniesta played his last game for Barcelona in their 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad, where he played 82 minutes before being substituted for Francisco Alcacer.

He will now join World Cup winning Germany forward Lukas Podolski at the club as he opens a new chapter of his football career.

The Barcelona legend will hope to help Kobe improve their performance in the Japanese topflight title as they are currently sixth in the J-League after 15 games, having finished ninth last season.

Iniesta, who scored the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final against the Netherlands, has been selected for Spain's squad for next month's tournament in Russia.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Andres Iniesta featured in his last El Clasico for Barcelona in their 2-2 draw against Real Madrid on Sunday, May 6, at the Camp Nou.

He also played his last game for the Spanish League side in their 1-0 in their last league games in the league.
