Ramadan 2018: Fasting hours around the world

- The details of fasting hours across the world for Ramadan has been revealed

- While some countries have a shorter fasting hours others fasting up to four hours longer

- The fasting hours varies due to different time zones across the globe

As the Ramadan period continues all over the world, the hours for fasting has been released.

Daily Trust reports that the holy month is observed across six different continents of the worls with different time zones.

The report says that fasting hours defers with some countries fasting fpr 22 hours while others are fasting less than 11 hours daily.

With the lengthening hours over the Ramdan period, statistics show that the country with the longest fast is Iceland, clocking in nearly 21 hours (20 hours and 17 minutes), from 2.27 am for Fajr till 10.44 pm for Maghrib.

Finland and Greenland takes the second place with 19 hours each, with a difference of four minutes (19:25, 19:21, respectively), followed by Norway and Sweden (19:19, 19:12, respectively).

However, Chile has the shortest fast span clocking in a mere 10 hours and 33 minutes - a difference of 10 hours and 44 minutes from Iceland’s time.

Other countries with less than 12 hours a day of fasting are New Zealand with 11 hours and 35 minutes, and South Africa with 11 hours and 47 minutes.

Brazil and Australia took the fourth place at 11 hours and 59 minutes exactly. The UAE, in comparison, clocks in nearly 14 hours and 52 minutes.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Saudi Arabia had announced that the Ramadan fasting will begin on Thursday, May 17, across the world.

The new moon of Ramadan was not spotted on Tuesday evening and Wednesday will mark the last day of the Islamic month of Shaaban.

Egypt’s Mufti, the country’s top religious authority, said in a televised speech that the holy month will start on Thursday in the most populous Arab country.
