- Kogi state court has remanded Senator Jonah David Jang in prison
- Jang, according to a source, was earlier put in police cell before appearing in court

Former governor of Plateau state and senator representing Plateau North has been remanded in prison after his arraignment at Kogi state high court on May 16 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Jang was initially kept in a police cell as he awaits his arraignment but Justice Daniel Longji order him to be remanded in prison after the Wednesday, May 16, arraignment in court.
Jang is facing a twelve count charge over alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion during the last leg of his tenure as governor of Plateau state.

Daily Trust reports that a source said Jang was earlier kept in a cell at the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and police presence was beefed up around the area.
He said several police officers were recalled to the state CID for fear that demonstrators may invade the place adding that, "his son Yakubu escorted him and his wife has just visited to give him food."
When contacted, state police public relations officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, said he could not comment on the issue.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that just after Justice Daniel Longji of the state high court five fixed Wednesday, May 15, for proper arraignment and hearing for bail application, young loyalists to Jang, began serious protest against what they referred to as a “witch hunt” by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
The youths carried placards that read: ‘Baba Jang is our hero, he didn’t steal a kobo’ and ‘Jang Forever’ as they chanted solidarity songs along CBN road.
In contrast to this, another group of youths also took over the streets with placards on which was written: “Jang return our money” and “where is the N2bn CBN/SME fund you collected?”
