An expectant woman in Murang'a county who had said her last prayer was pulled from debris by her sons after a fatal landslide hit Kahwai village.
The miraculous action saw 12-year-old Oscar Waimiri and his younger brother James Maina, 10, refuse to watch their lovely mother drown in the rubble that left five people dead on April 28.
The minors are pupils at Gitugi Primary School in Mathioya constituency.

The victim, Mary Wambui, who is due later in May, had her whole body buried in the thick mud except her head.
The now celebrated heroes said they looked around and did not see their mother then started searching for her before a voice called out for help only to realise it was their mother.
“We looked around but our mother was nowhere. We embarked on a mission to trace her. Luckily, after five minutes, we came across some household goods. We heard her crying out and pulled her out,” said Waimiri.

Wambui said she lay flat on the ground so that they could drag her from the mudslide to a higher ground.
“I cried out while I was deep in the rubble. I told my son this is the end of me. I know I have left behind kids but my boys also cried and held my hands before pulling me from the mud," she narrated.

A total of five people were confirmed dead while scores of villagers were rendered homeless in the area. The victims were buried alive following massive landslides which occurred in Inooi, Kianda gia Ithanwa and Kahwai villages.
A visit to the home witnessed the destruction left in the aftermath of the landslide as relatives and members of the public fought back tears with others wailing uncontrollably.

The landslide uprooted about 1,500 tea bushes that were hurtled away at a distance of about 800 metres down a steep slope as the avalanche carried trees and other objects along its path.
All the houses and the family cows were buried in the rubble.
