BREAKING: Former Osun state governor Oyinlola dumps APC

- A former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress

- The defection is coming a day after the ex-governor resigned from his position as chairman of the National Identity Management Commission

- Oyinlola's defection was disclosed by his political godson, Alhaji Kazeem Adio

An ex-governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was disclosed by Alhaji Kazeem Adio, the secretary to the state government during Oyinlola's administration, Daily Trust reports.

NAIJ.com notes that Adio stated that the former governor and his supporters have left the ruling party.

Adio who is Oyinlola's close aides and political godson, didn't disclose the new party that ex-governor will move to.

He said: "I can confirm to you that former governor, Oyinlola, has left APC along with his supporters. Therefore, we are no more in the APC. At the moment, I cannot talk about the new political party that Oyinlola will take us to."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, sent a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari resigning from his position as chairman of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

Oyinlola resigned on Wednesday, May 9, and his letter of resignation had been submitted to the presidency.

In the letter Oyinlola said he was charting a new political course which necessitated his decision to resign.
