- The governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, has unofficially said that he would be seeking re-election in 2019

- The governor said a term is not enough for any government to make a concrete development in Nigeria

- Ganduje said that he had been receiving calls from his supporters to seek re-election, adding that this also informed his decision

As Nigerians await the forthcoming general elections, the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, has revealed his plan to seek re-election in the next gubernatorial election in the state.

The governor disclosed this during Chanels Television programme, Roadmap 2019, aired on Monday, April 23, Channels reports.

NAIJ.com notes that the governor said: “From what I have seen on the ground, from what I believe development should be, and to help a state that is focused on a particular line of development, I think I should go for second term.

“I believe the projects that we have started, the ones that we have completed; it will be a better opportunity if one can have more than four years (if one can have eight years).”

According to Ganduje, part of the reasons for his decision to seek re-election was as a result of the call from his supporters that he should run for a second term.

He stated that a tenure is not enough for any government to make a concrete development under the normal political condition in the country.

In an audio voice message aired on a private radio station in Kano (Express FM) on Wednesday, March 21, Kwankwaso declared that no amount of persuasion would make him change his mind over the stance to change Ganduje.
