Buhari promises to take a second look at appointments to address issues been raised

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to take another look at the appointments made by his administration with a view to addressing complaints of marginalisation raised by some ethnic groups in the country.

Buhari made the statement on Thursday, February 8, when he received a group of Catholic bishops led by Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama at the presidential villa.

The president said the review will be done after a compendium of all appointments has been submitted to him. He told the clerics that no ethnic group or political zone has been deliberately marginalised in the appointments made so far by his administration, Vanguard reports.

Meanwhile, the president has said the policy proposed by federal government in response to the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country is not meant to colonise any part of the country.

Condemning recent spate of killings in Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, and Zamfara states, the president said security operatives would ensure prosecution of perpetrators and all those found with illegal arms in the affected areas.

Buhari told the Catholic Bishops that he would not be tired of recounting remarkable progress recorded in the areas of security, economy and the fight against corruption.

On the fight against corruption, the president said the government would be guided by the law in the investigation and prosecution of all graft-related cases.

Vanguard reports. According to the report, the SARS commander was killed when he and his men tried disarming the herdsmen, who residents in the area say have been terrorising them.

The team of policemen were said to have acted on a tip-off and moved to disarm the herdsmen, but they were resisted with gunshots which killed the commander.
