What is LASTMA?
LASTMA is an abbreviation of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. It's a state-owned agency under the Lagos State Ministry of Transport. It was established only in 2000. The main goal of this agency was to establish the traffic system of the state. It also has a task to reduce road accidents.
About one year ago, PM news published an article where it described the eagerness of young people to join LASTMA. In February 2016, almost 60,000 applied for 1,200 jobs openings with he Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

State's Head of Service Olabowale Ademola announced the idea to beef up the state traffic agency with new people. He expressed the states plan to employ 1,200 successful candidates into the ranks of LASTMA.

The official authorities of the State's Civil Service Commission refused to disclose the exact number of applicants who passed LASTMA job test, even without these figures, it was clear that there were a lot of graduates who wanted to end their joblessness and get some decent job.
What about the salary?
LASTMA monthly is not easily disclosed by Lagos civil service authority nor LASTMA officials themselves. According to Mysalaryscale.com, the salary for a Traffic Officer in LASTMA is about N54,000 per month.

The LASTMA monthly salary for traffic officer is only fifty-four thousand Naira. It's not the best salary you can earn in Nigeria. Nevertheless, it does not stop thousands of applicants from joining the ranks of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority every year.
