President Donald Trump on Friday, January 26, told the African Union chairman to send his "warmest regards" to other regional leaders at a summit this weekend after triggering rage with a reported derogatory remark on against Africans.

The US president congratulated Rwandan President Paul Kagame on taking over as chair of the African bloc, which Trump described as a "great honour", Channels News Asia reports.

After meeting with Kagame at the world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump told him: "I know you're going to your first meeting shortly. Please give my warmest regards."

The US president ignored questions asked by news men concerning his reported remark that African nations are "shithole countries", at a meeting on immigration with congress leaders.

President Trump's comment drew missed comments throughout the world and led many African leaders to demand explanations from the president through their US ambassadors.

African Union, chaired by Kagame asked for Donald Trump's apology to Africa.But Trump denied making the remark as reported by US lawmakers present at the meeting.

NAIJ.com reported that the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, in a speech, declared his love for US President Donald Trump, saying America had got one of the best presidents ever.

Museveni said: "America has got one of the best presidents ever. I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak."
