“Former president of Nigeria and elder statesman, Olusegun Obasanjo should be commended for his open bluntness and advice for President Muhammadu Buhari.

“He should be respected for his own opinion as a citizen of Nigeria and an elder statesman that we could say has seen it all and contributed in building a sustainable political structure for Nigeria,” he said as reported by NAN.

The report said Ayoola also commended the response of the presidency to the letter, saying that government understood its challenges and was willing to do better.

“This will make them have a say in whoever the parties are presenting as candidates and vote on critical thinking and conscience and not based on the highest bidder,” he said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how General Oladipo Diya who was chief of general staff to the late Sani Abacha reacted to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he sees no point in it.

Diya in his reaction said there was nothing in the letter except the issue of nepotism which the Buhari administration should look into.

He said: “You know Obasanjo has his own style of doing things. I just see that tied to him.

“I don’t see any point there. The only issue there is the accusation of nepotism. That should be looked into."
