Markets busy a day before the Anambra governorship election
“I didn't hear the no movement order on time, until I heard some people discussing it in my neighbourhood, so I quickly came to the market to buy a few things for the weekend.
“You know since the election is on Saturday, it is better to buy things now as markets do not open on Sundays,” Jane Odinaka, a fashion designer told NAIJ.com, as she dashed into the tight alleys leading to Ike Awka market to buy foodstuff.

On her part, a teacher, Mrs Anthonia Ekezuba said she is in the market to stock up her foodstuff, adding that she is not sure what will happen after the polls.
Her words: “Election in Nigeria is a do-or-die affair for most Nigerian politicians. They hardly accept defeat and I don't think this will be different.
“I only hope and pray that the security agencies won't allow the breakdown of law and order because that is the last thing we need in Anambra state.”

Security personnel are also stationed at flash points in various parts of the capital city and beyond.
Meanwhile, a group of Anambra state elders under the aegis of 'Concerned Anambra State Leaders' have written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari alleging plans by his party - the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise the outcome of the state's election.
The letter seen by NAIJ.com, alleged that there are plans by some APC stalwarts both at the state, zonal and federal levels to rig the forthcoming election in favour of the party.
The group also indicted several security agencies, accusing them of working with the APC to rig the elections.
