President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government and people of Iraq over the occurrence of earthquakes in both nations.

The president in a statement on Friday, November 17, by Shehu Garba, his senior special assistant on media and publicity, described the natural disaster and its fallout in Iran as very unfortunate and sad.
He said the thoughts and hearts of Nigerians are with the people of Iran at this trying period
The president prayed that God will console the grieving families and wished the injured speedy recovery.
Buhari also condoled with the government and people of Iraq over the human and material losses incurred following the earthquake on their border with Iran.
In other news, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has said treasury looters are largely responsible for the menace of fake news and disinformation in the country.
The minister also accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of sponsoring fake news on social media.

The minister said this on Thursday night, November 16, in Abuja when he paid a visit to the “The Labour Room’’, Nigeria’s first Reality TV show geared toward national development.
The minister, who was fielding questions from the “governors’’ on the challenge of fake news and disinformation in the country, expressed concern over the menace it was posing.
Mohammed said that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration had succeeded in driving corruption under the table.
