Vehicle licence renewal in Nigeria has now been made easier and faster. Continue to read this write up to know how to go about renewing your vehicle or driving licence.

People had to wait in long queues before they are attended to or might even have to go and come back multiple times. Sometimes people will have to pay unnecessary tip just to get it done on time. It even became more stressful as the number of vehicles and the population increased. The Federal Road Safety Corps has now devised a much easier and faster process for Nigerians to obtain or renew their driving or vehicle licence. Read and follow the steps below to understand the process of driver licence renewal in Nigeria.

Step by step guide renewing your driver’s licence:

● Log on to the driver’s license website of the Federal Road Safety Commission at https://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/.

● Click on the “Driver’s License Renewal” option under the “Driver’s Licence” section.

● You will be taken to a page where you are to enter your driver’s license number and date of birth.

● Click on Search and follow the dialogue options to view the page containing your registered data.

● Check your data on your driver’s licence page. If you need to update any information do so.

● Select the Federal Road Safety Commission where you want to capture your picture and biometrics, and then click on submit.

● Print out a copy of renewal application. Make sure to review your data carefully before printing out the application. Also, write out application ID number. You will need this number for further transaction regarding your driver licence renewal application.

● After printing out your application, select the “Pay Now” option.

● Review the amount you are to pay and click on “Proceed To Pay”. There are two options for payment. You can either pay online using your Naira Visa or MasterCard or you can pay at an affiliated bank.

● After you through with your payment option, visit the FRSC center you have chosen to complete your application and follow their instruction.

How to pay for your driver’s licence renewal

There are two options: you either pay online or pay at an affiliated bank.

Option 1: Pay Online

● After completing your application process you will be presented with two options. To pay online, select the e-Wallet payment option.

● You will be taken to a page where you will be required to log in to your e-Wallet account. If you don’t have an account, you will need to create one.

● Select the ‘Bill’ tab and chose ‘Active Bills’ from the list provided. You will be shown a payment page with your application details and the amount you are to pay.

● Select the ‘Pay’ button on the payment page to proceed with the payment process.

● Enter the required details of your Naira Visa or MasterCard and click on the payment button.

● The status of your payment will be displayed showing whether your payment was successful or not.

Pay at bank

Option 2: To pay at the bank

● After completing your application process you will be presented with two options. To pay at the bank, select the Bank payment option.

● You will be given an acknowledgment slip containing your application transaction ID and payment detail.

● Print out the acknowledgment slip and take it to the bank of your choice to pay (Note: you will see the list of affiliated banks where you can pay on your payment options page).

● After paying at the bank, you will be given a payment confirmation slip at the bank showing that you have paid.

● Take the confirmation slip along with the printed out copy of your application when you are going to the FRSC center.

The cost of vehicle licence renewal in Lagos

According to the FRSC website, the current cost of getting a driver’s licence is 6,000 Naira.
