Jubilation in Imo as Okorocha stops traditional rulers from speaking English language

- Okorocha ordered the traditional rulers not to speak the language to prove that it is not their local language

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has prohibited traditional rulers from speaking English language in any former meeting hold in the communities of the state.

Okorocha charged the traditional rulers on Tuesday, July 11, during the handing over ceremony of the staff of office and certificate of recognition to 19 monarchs at the Government House, Owerri, Daily Sun reports.

The governor said that traditional rulers in the state must conduct their functions in Igbo language, or get an interpreter where necessary.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) staged anti-Rochas Okorocha rally to protest the governor’s opposition to the Biafra struggle.

At the rally which took place on Tuesday, July 4, in major streets of Owerri, the Imo state capital, scores of pro-Biafra agitators chanted derogatory song against the of Governor Okorocha for refusing to back their cause.
