Money Laundering: My Trial Almost Destroyed My Life, Family- Femi Fani-Kayode

Former minister of Aviation and spokesman for Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode, has revealed that his money laundering trail almost destroyed his life, family, reputation, health and career.

Mr. Fani-Kayode stated this while speaking to journalists immediately after justice, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia discharged and acquitted him of all charges brought against him by the Economic and Fiancial Crimes Commission earlier today.

“In the last seven years, I have been orchestrated, insidious and devastating form of political persecution and wickedness. I thank God for his goodness, his mercy and for the fact that today, the while nightmare has finally come to an end” he said.

He thanked the judiciary for delivering justice “in an honest and God fearing way, refusing to be intimated or guided by anything other than evidence presented before them”.

“This gruesome ordeal started seven years ago and thought that period, it was grueling and difficult.

They took seven years from me but they couldn’t break me or end my life. It was a very difficult period for both me my family which came with enormous and unimaginable challenges, yet from day one I never doubted that I would be vindicated because God has assured me of it and I know the God that I serve. He never lies and he never fails”.

“I give thanks to God for today’s verdict. It is the doing of the lord and it is marvelous in our sight. Once again, he has proven all that throughout my life”.

Mr. Fani-Kayode trial began in 2008 before Justice Ramat Mohammed and was arraigned by the E​conomic and Financial Crimes Commission, E​FCC​,​ for allegedly laundering about N100 million while he was minister of culture and tourism and subsequently, aviation minister.

The allegedly laundered sum was, however, reduced to N2.1million on Nov​ember 17, 2014 after the court dismissed 38 of the 40-count charge levelled against Mr. Fani-Kayode for want of proof.
