Goodluck Jonathan, ex-president of Nigeria, with his wife former First Lady, Dame Patience attended a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Saint Peters Anglican Church, Yenagoa.
The former first family was accompanied by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Rivers state governor, who led a delegation of state officials and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in his state to the service.

Jonathan thanked the congregations via his official Facebook account.
He said: “I thank the congregations of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Yenagoa and St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Otuoke, as well as friends and family who joined my wife and I at the Thanksgiving Services held in our honour in Yenagoa and Otuoke. May God bless you all and may God bless Nigeria. GEJ.”
Former president read the first lesson of the service, from the book of Luke 17;11-19 while his wife, Dame Patience read the second lesson from the book of Psalm 121.
After reading the bible chapter, Jonathan broke into a song.
In a speech at the thanksgiving service, the ex-president appealed to the people of Bayelsa and the Niger delta to continue praying for him and his family.

It was a gathering of elders from both Bayelsa and Rivers state, singing and dancing in appreciation to the almighty God for what most of the guests described as a safe return of Jonathan to his people after his tenure in office.
It would be recalled that Jonathan handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, Friday in a swearing-in ceremony that was attended by over 50 world leaders.
After the inauguration ceremony an ex-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, took flight 5N-FGW from Abuja to Port Harcourt on the way to Otuoke, his hometown in Bayelsa state.
