Solskjaer named in Man United's legends squad to battle Bayern as Ferguson makes return as manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and David Beckham have been named in Manchester United legends squad that will battle Bayern Munich for a reunion match for the 1999 Champions League final.

The match has been scheduled for Sunday, May 26, with United seeking to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their historic treble on the same date they defeated the Bundesliga giants.

The Red Devils claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bayern at Nou Camp to lift the European title.

Incidentally, Solskjaer, who netted an injury time winner to gift United the memorable victory will lead the club's attackline on Sunday.

Peter Schmeichel, Denis Irwin, Jaap Staam, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke are also set to feature, alongside Gary Neville, Nicky Butty and Paul Scholes.

Legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, will roll back the years and make a return to the dugout, with Steve McClaren as assistant manager.

Goalkeepers: Raimond van der Gouw, Peter Schmeichel

Defenders: Gary Neville, Denis Irwin, David May, Ronny Johnsen, Jaap Stam, Henning Berg, Wes Brown, Mikael Silvestre

Midfielders: David Beckham, Nicky Butty, Jonathan Greening, Paul Scholes, Jesper Blomqvist, Karel Poborsky, Ji-sung Park

Forwards: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dwight Yorke, Louis Saha, Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Manchester United are reportedly close to landing Swansea winger Daniel James in a £15 million deal this summer.

The 21-year-old Welshman is said to have agreed personal terms with the Red Devils who are looking to strengthen their squad for competition next season.
